Stream Farm Organic Devonshire Gold Chickens are bought in as day-old organic chicks from Sam, one of our ex-share farmers now in Devon. After 2 1/2 weeks in a small broodery just next to our farmhouse, they spend 9-10 more weeks living on a field at the top of the farm and eating only natural organic food until they weigh between 1.7 and 2.3kg. They run freely in and out of their spacious sheds onto the surrounding grass and are shut up at night to protect them from predators – mainly, the wily old dog fox who sits and watches them from high up on the hill. The houses are moved onto new ground with every group of chickens. Fully–grown chickens then go to a small organic-certified abattoir just over the border in Devon.

In 2021 our organic Devonshire Gold chicken was awarded Gold at the Taste of the West awards.

We deliver our chickens in Taunton and Bridgwater on alternating Wednesdays, and across Bristol on a Wednesday and Thursday.
