This Autumn will mark the arrival on our farm of our first organic pigs, probably a Berkshire / Gloucester Old Spot cross. The pigs will have a field to themselves at any given time following the rotation round the farm and will be slaughtered at about 6 months and hung for a week before being butchered.
We will be selling pork in half sides, (about 20lbs in all), jointed, bagged, labelled and (usually) frozen and with recipes for the less common cuts.
Half a side usually comprises a large ham, 2 large loins of pork, plenty of sausages (prepared to our own recipe), a shoulder, and some belly of pork for roasting.
We know the history of each of our animals in great detail and are able to vouch for the integrity of its meat. If you want to know more about it, please do not hesitate to email us.
We can deliver our pork within a radius of about 10 miles of the farm but also within much of central London for free. We regularly drive up the A303 and the M3, or the M5 and the M4, so we can deliver close to those roads and we do a fairly regular delivery as well to Oxford.
To encourage you to move towards buying in larger amounts less regularly rather than just for the day’s or the week’s meals, we will sell you a 3.7cu.ft chest freezer, delivered to your door, for half price (about £45) with every first order of a side of pork. This freezer is large enough to contain not just the pork but plenty more besides.
We include locally-produced apple sauce with every order together with cooking suggestions and recipes.
